The Challenge
Unprecedented Demand
At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Clorox Disinfecting Wipes became an essential household item, quickly disappearing from store shelves nationwide. Consumers were disinfecting everything, from countertops to grocery bag.
Scaling up wipe production was only half the battle. Clorox also had to rapidly ramp up packaging output. Their existing label suppliers had some additional capacity — but only on rotogravure presses that couldn’t match the expanded gamut litho printing used for the original labels. Adding new print partners was critical to meet demand, but each partner had their own complex requirements and constraints.
The Approach
Scaling Production Without Compromises
We stepped in to meet intense demand, engineering a solution that kept packaging consistent. No matter who was printing it, or how.
Dual File Strategy: We created two perfectly matched sets of files and proofs: One optimized for expanded gamut litho printing, and one optimized for 4-color process plus Pantone colors gravure printing.
Precision Color Management: We leveraged both profiles to ensure the two outputs were visually indistinguishable — even side-by-side on the shelf.
Rapid Supplier Onboarding: As Clorox activated additional print partners, including overseas vendors, i4COLOR adapted files and managed color consistency across all suppliers.
Seamless Execution Under Pressure: We operated with the urgency the moment demanded, without ever compromising quality.

Thanks to our high standards and production methods, consumers couldn’t tell the difference between labels printed on different presses, in different plants, using different methods — even with the most keen eye.
We achieved visual consistency across all production methods: litho, gravure, expanded gamut, 4-color + Pantone. All matched seamlessly.
Clorox was able to scale packaging output at the speed of demand, at a time when every day counted. We avoided any erosion of the brand by ensuring flawless packaging presentation at a critical moment when Clorox’s reputation mattered the most.
